If you’ve been following us you would have seen this image in our last update showing the room down stairs before we started our renovation. We have a clear vision of what we want to achieve from this space.
Well we are truly in full swing with renovating, having ripped out all the lining and rear of the place we are now putting it back together. Yeh!
Framing up the space to create a separate bedroom, bathroom, living with kitchen and dining space and a small study room. We have opened up the back wall for sliding doors to add light and see the beautiful view.
The extension to the back of the property is to increase the bedroom size and to create a study and bathroom.
The builders have framed up the walls. I have designed a split wall entry into the bedroom rather than have a door in a flat wall.
We insulated the walls and used sound proofing insulation for the ceiling to reduce the noise carried through from upstairs.
We bought old floor boards to match the original floors to use in the extension. We have put in a dividing line as we couldn’t get the same size boards exactly and this becomes a feature as well as giving a straight edge to work with.
When renovating floors, it is important that the boards are glued and clamped to close any gaps and secure the floor well.
Next it was time to reclad the walls with plaster.
You can see the split wall here to the bedroom
The floor and walls are complete ready for finishing surfaces
While we were fitting out the inside, the boys have been building a great deck for outside. A place to relax and capture the view.
Can’t wait to do the kitchen and bathroom!
