So we are now 1 month into 2016!!
After lots of renovating and moving over 30 years, Brett and I had given ourselves a break from upgrading our own home during 2014 and 2015, just concentrating on our investment properties.
However, now it’s time to get going again. We have a few more years to start our DA approved conversion on our big, 1970’s mansion. It’s currently in its original condition, but will be converted to 2 x 4 bedroom townhouses for dual occupancy. However, our builder has popped us into his calendar for June 2016 which suits us perfectly and means that we should be finished by Christmas.
So in preparation, I have started to get very clear on what style I want these townhouses to be. I have begun to really nut out what I like and don’t like, as well as get up to date on the latest look and cost of items I haven’t had to purchase in the last few years. This is the fun part and I love doing it!
On that list is garage doors. I will be needing 2 x doubles, with one directly facing the street and one not so visible from the street.

I began looking online and came across Personality Garage Doors. Based in Sydney, they cater for all styles: modern, contemporary and traditional. Another thing I really like is that they also offer custom fits. That’s a great solution for us, as one of the doors we need is a really odd size (5.25m wide x 2.8m tall) while the other will be attached to our newly built garage and therefore will be standard size. And of course, we want them to look good together.
You can see in the picture, how tall (and ugly!) our existing garage door is.

So keeping in mind that the conversion and renovation of our house will result in townhouses that are ‘traditional style,’ here are my 4 favourite garage doors so far.

Personality Garage Doors have been around since 1954 and I love it when a company has that level of experience, so I will be definitely giving them a call. They can design, quote and install sectional, tilt or roller doors available in a wide range of materials, so the possibilities are endless. They also offer a 24 hour emergency call out service. You can check out their full range here.

I’ll keep you posted on progress as it happens, so you can see which garage door I choose!
The engineer is coming tomorrow morning, so it’s definitely starting. Exciting!
