When a young Perth couple bought their first home they were ready for a challenge and that’s exactly what they got! The two bedroom home needed a complete overhaul and style makeover. With DIY renovation skills and a good eye for styling and design, this couple have managed to turn this house into a light, bright and gorgeous home.

After narrowly missing out on a place in The Block Glasshouse series this young couple channeled all their energy into their own home renovation. To begin with the owners put in new wood look laminate flooring, this was the perfect way to brighten up the living area. A new ceiling was also built with insulation and a bright white coat of paint was used to freshen up the space. Down lights were installed throughout and integrated speakers were installed in the living room. The difference in the living area is amazing.

The kitchen needed a complete re-structure and makeover. The owners changed the layout of the kitchen, opening up the space and creating an eat-in kitchen with breakfast bar. They did most of the renovations themselves, but left the kitchen to an expert. Choosing a Caesar Stone bench and glass splashback, along with white cabinetry the new kitchen is modern and fresh.

In the main bedroom a loft space had been built by previous owners. The loft was removed and a new ceiling was installed. Both the main and second bedroom were given a fresh coat of paint and new flooring, this along with clever design and styling has created two gorgeous bedrooms!

The bathroom and laundry were cleverly renovated using neutral colours and quality finishes to create a beautiful, functional space. A grey and white colour scheme was chosen for the bathroom/ laundry renovation, with frameless shower screen installed and a mahogany bench top for the laundry sink. The result is gorgeous!

First impressions are always the most important when it comes to a home and the entrance to this home needed a little love. The front courtyard was previously paved in bricks which had become weathered and tired looking so these were replaced with a mahogany deck and a small table and chairs were added. This created a much more welcoming entrance to the home. The back courtyard was also updated with a mahogany deck and a new hardwood sleeper retaining wall. A daybed was added to help create a more inviting and usable backyard.

What an amazing budget transformation. This is truly an example of what a difference clever thinking and design can make. The owners did most of the renovations themselves and chose colours and styling that won’t date and appeal to most buyers. As the owners have decided to move on, the property is now up for sale and can be viewed here:
