Christmas is just around the corner and it really is a special time of year. I love the time leading up to Christmas when the kids are excited, presents are being wrapped and you finally get to put up the Christmas décor! Decorating the house for Christmas can be a fun way to change things up and introduce new colours and patterns into your home. Although the traditional Christmas colours always look beautiful, it’s nice to think outside the box and find different ways to make your home festive. Here are three totally different Christmas looks to try this year!
1. Black and White
With a Scandinavian feel, black and white Christmas décor is right on trend. It’s a great choice for modern décor and homes that have a contemporary feel. Think about different ways to add black and white Christmas décor at home. Keep the tree ornaments simple with a black and white palette or go for a large vase of branches with black and white ornaments. There are beautiful black and white paper decorations available in stores or online, or give diy a try! Black and white candle holders look great for the table décor and may be something you already have at home. A simple Christmas tree with the gifts wrapped in black and white looks great and is an affordable way to add Christmas décor to the room. This colour combination is a great choice because it is easily available and you are likely to already have items at home in these colours!

2. Boho Christmas
A relaxed take on Christmas décor, this is great alternative to the more traditional take on Christmas. Think a beautiful mix of colours and textures, mismatched glassware and ornaments and gorgeous fabrics. This a great choice if you do have a lot of different coloured ornaments and fabrics that you want to display. Try making some of the gorgeous arrow ornaments below (link in caption) or make your own boho ornaments out of fabrics you have at home.

3. Rustic Neutrals
This is a relaxed and easy take on Christmas décor that would suit most homes and budgets. A rustic look that doesn’t take much to put together, but has impact! This Christmas style emphasises natural elements, the greenery of the tree and natural textures and tones. To get this look try fabrics like cotton weaves, calico and burlap. Use branches and twigs for décor and when decorating the tree go minimal with the ornaments or just use lights instead. A basket is a great way to display the Christmas tree or any greenery and works well with this Christmas look. Pinecones, natural wreaths look great and can be a great use for a Christmas diy project. For neutral wrapping, brown paper and twine always looks great. Here is a little inspiration…
