How Fashion Influences Interior Decor Trends
While you may think it is strange that we are sharing Chanel’s Spring/Summer Fashion Collection on our home design and renovation blog, it isn’t just because we love clothes. Fashion trends often set the stage for what will be the latest looks in home decor and accessories. Top designers like Armani, Lagerfield and Chanel are embracing a floral movement this season. Watch Chanel’s fabulous presentation for 2015 where they showcase amazing couture outfits in a variety of looks. The main thread that is emerging is the use of florals. From broad patterned bold coloured flowing designs, to sutler uses of florals on more dramatic dark coloured pieces in netting, sheers or as highlights as pockets, head ornamentation and accessories to add punches of colour.

While we do not advocate following trends just for the sake of having a new look, as interior decorators and designers we use these cues when they are inspiring and achievable. Chanel’s use of florals is certainly that and more.
Having visited the Life Instyle and Reed Gift Fairs recently we viewed some amazingly beautiful products. We listened to a great presentation by Tara Dennis of Better Homes and Garden, who further confirmed the link between fashion and interior design. Recently Tara has been to Paris and London where she noticed a trend where the stores were using plants and floral displays among their merchandise as props.
So here we share some ways we love to add a floral wow factor to your home without being over the top
( unless you want that dramatic look )
