A dining room should be a place where the family dinner is eaten every night, where everyone comes together for a meal, but sometimes it seems to be an unused space. The dining table doesn’t get used for meal often enough (at least not in my house!) when it becomes over run with paperwork, homework and handbags, sometimes it is just easier to eat at the kitchen bench! I’m sure it is easier when the dining room is a separate room to the other living areas, but you can still give any dining room its own special space. Make it inviting, make it fun, make it a relaxing space, one you want to dine in every night!
There are plenty of ways to define the dining area and make it more inviting, it doesn’t have to be a complete makeover. Just adding beautiful lighting, like a pendant light over the dining table, will help define the space and make it more inviting. Adding flowers and greenery, or some kind of centrepiece on the dining table is a perfect way to draw attention to the space. Make it fun with colour, pattern and mismatched furniture, this will give more interest to the room. The dining room is also a great space to create a gallery wall or to hang artwork. Giving the room a focal point that draws the eye to the space. Even just adding cushions to make the seating more comfortable may be enough to make the space more usable. Whatever size or shape your dining area is it can become inviting and useable! Here are some dining rooms you will want to dine in every night of the week!
