This is the first in a series of blogs exploring décor styles from all over the world. Being so close to valentines day we thought Paris, the city of love, would be a good place to start! so what characterises Parisian décor?
Old and New: Parisian décor often mixes old with new to create an eclectic look. Think vintage furniture pieces mixed with modern design. It is a perfect mixture of old and new that creates such a chic look in a Parisian home.

A Touch of Glamour: Often when you think of a French home you think of something glamourous like a chandelier or metallic finishes and often Parisian décor doesn’t disappoint! As mentioned above though, a glamorous piece like a chandelier is mixed with modern décor or more rustic pieces that bring the glamour down a notch, a perfect mix!

Details: Architectural details play a big part in the look of Parisian décor. A lot of old buildings in Paris have those beautiful wooden floors or mouldings on the ceilings and walls. These little details add so much personality to the décor! It is often these details that set the tone for the décor in the home.

Classic Neutrals: Neutral colours are often used in a Parisian home, mixed with pops of colour and textural finishes. I love the mix of whites and creams in fabrics and paint colours, along with the natural light it creates a soothing space. Although a neutral colour scheme is a classic look, in these Parisian apartments the look is modernised with modern design pieces and artwork that adds a pop of colour or interest.

A Beautiful Kitchen: To go along with beautiful French food, the kitchen is often a beautiful and welcoming space in a French home. Once again mixing traditional features with modern appliances a Parisian kitchen may not be a big space, but looks inviting and enticing. It really is the heart of the home!
