It can be hard to decide on a décor style that not only works for your home, but is one which you love! You may have lots of different décor pieces which you love, but aren’t sure how to make them work together. Eclectic décor is a hard style to achieve, but when done well, can make for a beautiful and interesting home. So if you do want to achieve this style at home here are some tips on creating an eclectic look, without the chaos!
1. There is a fine line between eclectic and just mismatched. Eclectic décor doesn’t just mean a free for all in terms of styling, in fact it can be harder to create an eclectic look than any other, because it needs to be edited perfectly!

2. Eclectic décor is a mixture of old and new, and a mix of luxe and less. Creating an eclectic look is great for mixing modern pieces with vintage, creating a beautiful contrast. Another great way to create an eclectic look is to mix luxe items with budget pieces, choosing pieces you love, no matter if they are luxe or less, is what eclectic décor is all about!

3. Mixing textures and patterns is part of an eclectic home, from cushions to floor coverings, an unusual mix works perfectly. It takes confidence to mix patterns and textures well, but it is all about using the pieces you love and slowly adding new patterns and textures until you get it just right!

4. Display pieces from your travels or items you have collected over the years. Make these objects interesting by finding different ways to display them, whether it is framing an everyday object you have collected, or grouping items together you have found over the years. Displaying your treasures in an interesting way can make everyday objects really shine!

5. To create an eclectic look in your home which is not just mismatched and chaotic, you still need to stick to some boundaries! A great place to start is to look at proportion and colour. The size of furniture and décor still needs to be in proportion with the space, so although you may love a small rug you have collected it may not work in a large living room. The same goes for colour when choosing eclectic pieces, there still needs to be some kind of colour palette which works together.

6. Finally, an eclectic look is all about choosing a collection of things you love and not following a particular style too closely. With careful editing you can display all your treasures and choose all the décor looks you love to create a warm and inviting home!
