Style Your Kitchen With Everyday Objects!

by

The kitchen is probably the last place you think of decorating and styling, but it is one of the easiest rooms to style! Of course everyone likes a clean and tidy kitchen, but leaving some items out on the bench can actually work as décor. A wooden cutting board or a mortar and pestle can be used as décor for the kitchen instead of being hidden away! Here are some quick tips for styling your kitchen with everyday objects:

  • Choose a spot in your kitchen to display wooden cutting boards, salt and pepper and oils. These are some of the most used items in the kitchen, so as well as looking great it comes in handy to have them within easy reach. Group them together on a tray if you prefer to give it a more ‘styled’ look.

  • Display your produce! A bowl of tomatoes on the bench adds a pop of colour to the kitchen and is a good excuse to use those gorgeous bowls that are stored away in the cupboard. Style your kitchen with a small potted herb or a glass jar filled with fresh herbs which looks great and and makes the kitchen smell lovely.

  • If you have the room think about installing floating shelves in the kitchen so that you can display some everyday items at eye level. This is a great excuse to get any gorgeous serving-ware out of the cupboards, but also just placing stacks of plates and glasses on display adds interest to the kitchen.

  • Splurge on the accessories! If you do decide to keep some everyday items on display look for interesting textures, colours and tones for vessels to display them in. For example, look for a wooden vase to display spoons and utensils, or choose a woven basket for the fruit on display. There are some great metallic salt and pepper shakers and tiny bowls that could really add a touch of ‘styling’ to the kitchen.

There is no need to spend a lot of money on styling your kitchen when there are so many interesting ways to display what you already have. Take a little inspiration from these gorgeous kitchens below:
