Love or Hate? Navy Blue Kitchens

As the saying goes the kitchen is the heart of the home.  It also can affect the appeal of a home when it is for sale. So choosing the design and colour of your kitchen can be one of the most important decisions when renovating or building a house. Often a neutral colour, especially white, is chosen because it won’t date, but I love the boldness of choosing something different!

Lately, I have noticed a lot of navy blue kitchens popping up and although it isn’t a colour that is too far from the norm, it still adds a little more interest to a kitchen. Dark navy cabinetry looks fantastic with white benchtops and also looks gorgeous with accents of copper and marble. It is a darker choice, so may not suit all spaces, particularly smaller rooms, although just using it on the bottom cabinets or an island bench would be enough to inject some colour!  Navy blue in the kitchen also works perfectly with the natural/organic décor trend that is ever popular and actually compliments baskets and raw wood beautifully.

So, although Navy may be a break away from the traditional white kitchen, it is still a ‘safer’ colour choice than many others. Add a touch, or follow the lead of these beautiful kitchens below and go for navy blue cabinetry. Still classic enough not to date quickly, but adds a little edge to the design. So do you love it or hate it? Check out these gorgeous kitchens below and let us know what you think in the comments!
