How To Get The Latest Concrete Look In Your Home WITHOUT Spending Big
Last week Belinda and I were talking to a client (Haley) about concrete flooring in her home. She really likes the look of polished concrete and along with natural materials, it is a popular look right now. So, we totally understand her desire.
The trouble is, her floor is very uneven and requires patching and repairing in many places, especially in the small hallway near her front door entrance. By repairing those areas, she will be left with noticeably miss-matched concrete patches giving a rustic look, which is fine in a café, but it’s not the result she is after in her home!
Belinda and I advised her not to bother. Really, what is the point of all that dust, grinding and sealing, possibly resulting in a substandard finish, especially in this particular case?
We saw it as an unnecessary expense. It will add no more equity value to the house in comparison to other more economical flooring choices. Simply, her money would be better spent on something else.
So what did we advise?….
We said, “Please lay tiles. We have the perfect solution for you!”
There are lovely concrete look tiles available on the market right now, varying in price and size. We suggest she views the tiles available in the latest range at ColorTile. The largest concrete look tile in their range is 900 x 900, however the 300 x 600 tiles are perfect on the floor of Haley’s downstairs area as they will look better in her small hallway.

They are the perfect tile to use for all areas inside; attractive, affordable and durable. An added bonus is that they are also unbeatable for outside, so creating the flow from the kitchen and family room through wide opening doors, to outdoor entertaining is easy. Australians love the indoor outdoor style of living and love using BBQs! Unlike timber, natural stone (travertine, sandstone, limestone) or concrete tiles, splatters of fat from the BBQ onto concrete look porcelain tiles is no problem, as the tiles are very easy to clean. A little warm soapy water and splatter marks are easily removed by mopping or hosing.

By choosing from the concrete look tiles range we are unrestricted in the choice of design for each room in the home. Simple, timeless and perfect with our suggested colour range of black, charcoal grey, greys, beiges and whites, with pops of colour here and there, especially in the children’s rooms. These added features can be inexpensively updated over time while her floor will always look amazing.
Even better, for bathroom areas, there is the option of using smaller sized concrete look tiles from the same range, which allows for easy water flow to drains as requested by some builders and plumbers. Teamed with a coordinating feature tile like these handmade subway tiles laid horizontally in brick pattern or vertically, creates a winning look. They would look more even more amazing with grey grout to match the concrete look floor tile.

With consultants available to make it easy, we just contact them on 1300 948 367 with measurements and they let us know exactly how many tiles we will need and can help us with any other questions we may have.
