We are lucky enough to come across lots of gorgeous homes at Oohm, as we search for images and content for our readers! At Oohm we are lovers of so many different styles of architecture and décor, that we have many favourite homes. I often think that I would love to share our favourites homes with our readers, so I thought would share our favourite home every month in this blog series.
This home on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria is a modern take on a beach house, with muted tones and minimal styling. This gorgeous home featured on My Domaine uses colours like greys, blues and greens to reflect the surrounding ocean and countryside, cleverly reflecting the surrounding landscape without taking away from it. Designed by Mim Design, it truly is a beautiful home!
The home also features a lot of natural materials like wood and stone which helps create a soothing palette and backdrop for the furnishings. Often when we think of a beach house minimal and modern doesn’t spring to mind, but this home does it perfectly against the muted landscape. Grey and white are used in the kitchen and bathroom, warmed up with the natural wood used throughout the home.
Colour has been added in the soft furnishing and artworks throughout the home, but even so these colours are still muted and worn, to give some warmth without taking away from the minimal aesthetic of the home. The worn textures and tones throughout the home, like the grainy wooden finishes, work perfectly in a beach house, going hand in hand with the unforgiving nature of the coastal landscape.
The soothing atmosphere and feel of this home is what makes it so special, created by clever design and styling. It has all the elements to create a relaxing coastal weekender or family home. Although minimal décor may not be for everyone, when done so well, like this beach house, it can be inviting and inspiring!
