Now that all the walls are in and we are happy with the spaces it is finally time to paint, design, add finishes and make beautiful. The hard renovation part is over but we still have a fair way to go. Remembering my inspiration I decided to paint some feature walls in a warm grey like lovely this verandah has.
The Feature Wall
I love the slate grey wall colour we chose to go with soft white on the other walls. Doesn’t paint make a huge difference???
We kept two sections of the wall open to let light into the small study at the back of the apartment.
The Bathroom
We used a beautiful grey patterned floor tile in the bathroom with rippled subway tiles for the wall to add character to the small bathroom space.
We restored a rustic old cabinet with a marble top for the vanity. I just love up-cycling.
The Kitchen
I chose white for the kitchen cabinets as it is a small space, and we used a frosted glass window as the splash back which lets light in but provides privacy.
We had to put in an internal access to comply with council regulations, but we have installed a lockable door so that we can have the house separated from the apartment fully. We have covered the timber stair treads with ply to protect them while we are still renovating.
The Deck
Finally we have added a large new deck to take in the beautiful views to the water and add more living space in our great sub tropical climate. We will add a privacy screen to block out the neighbours
Our son helps us with the work. its good to have big kids to do the hard yards.
Getting close to finishes our renovation of the dingy basement into a lovely scandinavian apartment. Can’t wait to show you the next stage of creating this beautiful space on a budget – Belinda Westblade.
