Philippe Starck is a French designer who studied at the Ecole Camondo in Paris. From here he went on to design the private apartments of the French President and start his own industrial design company. This led to him working with companies such as Alessi and Kartell to create iconic pieces that are seen worldwide. His genius lies in the fact that he found a way to bring good quality, designer furniture to the masses. Making designer furniture and homewares attainable has been key to Starcks design empire. He doesn’t focus on one off designer pieces, but on quality design that can be mass produced and seen in homes all over the world.

It is seen in all types of interiors from modern to classic homes. The beautiful design is what makes it work in any setting. Another shinning example of Starcks commitment to democratic design is the Masters Chair. Often seen in restaurants and cafes, it is an eye catching, fun design that comes in an array of bright colours. These two chair designs are just a taste of Starck’s interpretation of everyday objects. His personality shines through in the way he makes everyday objects fun and interesting.

A starck designed ‘Juicy Salif’ juicer is a perfect addition to any kitchen! He has joined forces with companies such as Axor to create bathroom fittings that are unique but timeless. An example of Starck’s beautifully designed light fittings can be seen in the chandeliers at Baccarat in Paris, although it is not just elaborate chandeliers, but Starck has designed smaller light fittings and bedside lamps.
