The 2 Belinda’s met Greg Natale at the Life-Instyle Trade Fair last month. Greg generously shared his tips on his success and presented his beautiful book “The Tailored interior”. His work incorporates many repeat patterns and his eye for detail is amazing. We love his work and so decided to include him in our design series.

Since 2001 designer and architect Greg Natale has been creating beautiful spaces in residential, retail and commercial projects. In 2011 and 2014 he was awarded Belle Coco Republic Interior Designer of the year, just two of many accolades for the designer. Collaborations with Designer Rugs and a wallpaper line with Porters Paints have followed, creating another outlet for Natale’s eye for colour and pattern. The designer has also worked on products for Stylecraft, Teranova and Worlds Away. In November 2014 Natale’s book The Tailored Interior was released, beautifully showcasing the work of the designer.

A considered approach to every space means that a tailored and polished look is achieved with a perfect mix of classic and geometric patterns. Greg Natale designed spaces are personal while still having the signature look Natale is known for. Although much of the designers work is classic, there are also projects which reflect a more modern aesthetic. One of my favourite projects of Greg Natale Design is Perikic House, a Hollywood Regency style home. It is classic but bold, with a clever take on the regency style using beautiful patterns and fabrics.

What really catches the eye when admiring Natale’s work is his innate eye for detail and the perfect mix of pattern and colour. To mix patterns in the way that Natale does is no easy task and this is really what makes his work so unique. This great mix of pattern and colour is showcased in his range of wallpaper for Porters Paint and rugs for Designer Rugs. The wallpaper range patterns such as chevron and pinstripe are in bold colours, while the same can be seen with the rug collection, with a strong focus on repeated patterns.

Greg Natale Design style is eye catching and bold, glamorous and polished, while still being warm and inviting. The most noticeable thing when perusing Natale’s work is that he isn’t afraid to take risks and this has clearly paid off, as he is one of Australia’s most recognised and favoured designers.
