David Hicks started his own company over 10 years ago after studying interior design at RMIT. The design firm now covers projects in residential, corporate, retail and hotel design and has also expanded to include an office in Los Angeles.

So what is it about David Hicks Design that we love? Its all about the details! The attention to detail that you will see in David Hicks’ work is second to none. Every corner of the space has been considered, curated and styled perfectly, nothing is left undone.

From the perfect artwork to a vintage piece of furniture, it seems that every new space is considered carefully and the design takes in the space as a whole. A room is designed from every angle and this makes for such a welcoming space. The way that each room is put together from furniture to fittings shows attention to detail, which is evident in homes like this Melbourne one below, where different styles, colours and textures work so perfectly together.

It is obvious that Hicks’ design takes into account the exterior space in a home too. This is important in creating a flow between the architecture and the interior design. The interiors are highlighted through glass doors in the home shown below and the beautiful choice of colourful artwork works perfectly with the simple outdoor area. The glass doors frame the interior space perfectly. It’s all about a holistic approach, taking into account architecture, interior design and decoration.

In David Hicks’ design the quality finishes are hard to miss. The use of beautiful materials in every room, from a beautiful light fitting to the choice of bench top show the consideration taken in every room.

The holistic approach is also seen in the restaurants designed by Hicks. The details, finishes and colours are perfectly put together to create spaces not only for dinning, but for relaxing. These are inviting spaces to come together with friends, not only to eat the food, but also to admire the design!
