Is Your Bathroom In Need Of An Update
Not everyone can afford to rip out their bathroom and create the designer bathroom they see in magazines. However it is lovely to have a bathroom that is up to date and clean. The best option if you don’t have a budget to renovate the room fully, is to do a cosmetic bathroom makeover. Keep what can be upgraded with a revamp like a coat of paint, and remove fittings that are outdated or broken. You will be amazed at just how great the bathroom will look.

If you have a low budget to makeover your bathroom, don’t despair. With a few DIY renovations and by changing some of the fittings, you too can achieve a beautiful new look in a short time.
I recently helped a client do a DIY bathroom upgrade makeover on a budget. With only $2500 in the kitty I had to revamp rather than upgrade everything. Here’s how we were able to stay in budget. We kept the tiles and toilet. Then :
1. The owner painted the wall tiles white with White Knight Tile Paint and Prep, keeping the feature tile that he liked. It is reasonably simple to do as long as you follow the instructions. The finished look is great. Cost $300
2. Next he painted the cabinets with the grey colour I selected, that went with the blue floors. Marine varnish was added as a top coat for protection. New knobs just make the cabinet look so much better. Cost $80
3. I chose a new basin and a stone bench top was added removing the old tiled one. The stone top was an off cut, which was the perfect match with a white background and grey veining through it. Cost $650
4. Contemporary new taps in the shower and basin add a little touch of luxury Cost $420
5. A new large rectangle mirror is on order Cost $90
6. The final touch was a new shower screen. He was thrilled with the new look and loved being able to do some of the work himself. He did a great job!! Cost $900

With a full bathroom renovation costing between $12K – $30K it is great to be able to upgrade with a cosmetic renovation rather than rip everything out.
