Darlene, Oohm’s number one designer, decided to convert part of her home into an apartment to rent on Airbnb. Being a 1990’s construction, it needed a designer touch to add a wow factor. Darlene renovated it in early 2000’s, putting in a new bathroom.
“The original bathroom had dark floor tiles and shower curtain, creating a dark and dingy space. It was certainly in need of a renovation. As we travel regularly and rent the property out, we required quality finishes that are easy to clean, yet feel luxurious. I wanted an affordable finish that looked designer.”

Using 2nd hand furniture and recycled furnishings she created a beautiful and stylish space that her visitors love. With Darlene’s eclectic style and designer skills, her apartment still is a unique look for the Byron area. Using art and accessories to add interest and colour, it is really beautiful and the raving revues by guests shows with clever design, even an ordinary space can become extraordinary. It is definitely an Airbnb success story.

I love the clever use of the verandah. Adding a shelf counter provides another eating area and takes great advantage of the beautiful ocean views. No wonder she has constant bookings. Well done Darlene!!
