1. Metalics
This design trend has been around for a while, but doesn’t seem to be going anywhere! Adding metalics to your home is an easy trend to try, there a plenty of great inexpensive options. Try adding a little metalics in a vase or a cushion, or get on board with the gold tapware trend and upgrade your bathroom. Metalic accessories work with many different colour schemes from pastels to jewel tones. Its an easy trend to add to your décor and will compliment most styles.

2. Watercolour Décor
Right now, watercolour is popping up everywhere from home décor to fashion. The watercolour trend in home décor is seen in accessories like cushions and bedlinen, to artwork and paint trends. It is a soft, muted take on colour providing a relaxed feel. Perfect for a coastal living look, it also works really well against a crisp white colour scheme. It’s not an expensive trend to try, as there are plenty of DIY ways to add watercolour décor to your home; these plates below are my favourites!

3. Pattern on Pattern
Bold use of pattern in home décor has been popular lately! Its a trend that can be used in so many different ways and in every room of the house. Its all about layering and trying different patterns together to get the right mix. Try mixing patterns in similar tones and mixing patterns of different sizes. A cushion with a large pattern will be complimented when matched with a small pattern. Its all about trial and error, but you will be surprised what actually works together. Start small and just add a few cushions to the lounge or go bold and have a bedhead or lounge upholstered in a patterned fabric. For more tips on mixing patterns check our pattern blog!

4. Marble
Its hard to miss the marble trend at the moment. It’s everywhere from kitchens to serving ware. It’s a great trend to try if you really want to add a touch of luxury to your décor. Although marble is known as an expensive material to use, there are some great home accessories that still use the marble trend, but wont break the bank! In most homeware stores at the moment you will find accessories such as trays, plates, bowls and vases in a marble look that are inexpensive. There are a lot of natural materials being used in home décor trends at the moment and the marble trend is one of my favourites.

5. Wallpaper
Last in our 5 hot design trends to try is wallpaper, which doesn’t have to be old fashioned or outdated, it continues to trend in home décor at the moment and there are lots of beautiful choices! A lean towards more geometric patterns in softer colours is prevalent in home décor, with a focus on using wallpaper in different ways. Think outside the box when adding wallpaper to your home, whether it be using it inside a bookcase or just as a small feature wall. There are so many beautiful wallpapers available and it can be a fun trend to try in a kids bedroom or playroom!
