Kerb appeal is one of the most important parts of creating a beautiful home. Good kerb appeal can make your home feel welcoming and inviting and is especially important when selling your home! It’s all about catching people’s attention and making them want to see more of your home, however, there is no need to spend a lot of money to create it. There are so many easy and affordable ways to make your home appealing from the street. Here are our five simple ways to add kerb appeal to your home!

A Colourful Entrance!

Adding a coat of paint to the front door will do wonders to the appearance of your home! I love the idea of a colourful front door, this really grabs peoples attention! A bright hue like yellow will obviously catch the eye, but if that’s not your style go for a soft mint to still make your door stand out!

Add Lighting

Great lighting makes for a great entrance! If you don’t have any lighting at the front of your home already, consider adding some near the front door or down the path. If your lighting needs updating there are some great options for light fittings that can help give your home kerb appeal. There are clever solar options that are inexpensive and look great, these would work well along the sides of the front path. If you want something a little more dramatic look for one or two larger light fittings to install near the front door, go for a style that compliments the style of your home!

Nice Numbers!

A nice house number is one of the easiest ways to create kerb appeal. It’s surprising how much difference an eye catching house number can make to the presentation of  a home. There are some great DIY ways to make house numbers that are inexpensive – there are easy step by step guides online. If DIY is not your thing, there are plenty of options for pre-made house numbers at hardware and home stores. I love the idea below of adding a little greenery to your house number!

Colourful Blooms

A pretty front garden makes all the difference. Creating a manicured garden in the front yard makes a home more inviting, looks fantastic in Real Estate photos when selling and indicates that the interior of the house (hopefully) has been as well cared for. It doesn’t have to be an elaborate garden, but adding colour in the garden will catch the eye of a passer by. To keep it simple choose one type of flower in different colours or even a simple colour scheme like lavender and white. If you don’t have room for a garden bed invest in some nice ceramic pots and fill them with colourful blooms!

Take A Seat

Placing seating on your front verandah will give a warm and welcoming feel to your home, creating atmosphere and kerb appeal! It doesn’t need to be anything expensive, even a garden bench or a small set of table and chairs will make a different. See if there are any chairs or tables that you already have which can be given a fresh coat of paint. A long garden bench with cushions looks great on a front verandah, or for smaller areas just a single outdoor chair near the front door will make a difference.
